The project began with the client's desire for a house that embraced and integrated with nature. As time passed, a stronger emotional connection with the place led the owner to envision a new home, one that would be even closer to the water and more harmoniously connected to the surrounding landscape. This evolution reflected not just a shift in physical space but a deepening appreciation for the natural environment. The new design sought to amplify the presence of the landscape, blending architecture and nature to create a serene, immersive, and responsive living experience fully attuned to its setting.

The landscape harmonizes with Rio de Janeiro’s vibrant fauna, establishing a seamless connection between modern architecture and lush tropical nature. Positioned slightly away from the water’s edge, the house is embraced by native vegetation, allowing it to blend naturally into the surroundings. This careful integration creates a peaceful and secluded waterfront retreat that feels organic and grounded. Every element, from the preserved greenery to the discreet architectural lines, enhances the sense of harmony, making the residence a calm and immersive experience, fully attuned to its rich natural context.
The landscape project in this setting is a masterful exercise in ecological design, where the line between built environment and natural wilderness is purposefully blurred. Situated within a dense tropical forest and near a water body, the landscape design prioritizes preservation, integration, and subtle enhancement of the existing terrain and ecosystem.
In this project, mature trees were preserved, and the house was designed to adapt to the existing topography and vegetation, minimizing environmental impact. The house Design won an IF DESIGN prize, for the architecture project.
Nestled on the edge of a tranquil waterfront and embraced by the dense Atlantic Forest, this landscape project exemplifies harmony between built form and natural landscape. A key strength of the project lies in its seamless integration with the surrounding nature. Existing trees were carefully retained, and native vegetation was used to blend architecture and land, reinforcing the sense of place and ecological responsibility. At night, warm and discreet lighting highlights architectural lines and key landscape features, producing a welcoming and serene ambiance without disrupting the natural darkness of the forest.
Rather than altering the landscape, existing trees were thoughtfully preserved, and native plants were incorporated to unify the built elements with the surroundings, enhancing both the sense of belonging and environmental stewardship. In the evening, subtle and warm lighting accentuates architectural contours and key elements of the landscape.
