Located in Paris, Virtuose is a major renovation project of a Haussmannian building constructed in 1901. Originally designed for residential use, the building gradually lost its architectural coherence through successive adaptations for office functions. The intervention restores continuity, coherence, and dignity to a structure whose spatial and heritage qualities had been fragmented over time.

At Virtuose, each intervention was precisely calibrated. The building envelope was fully restored. The redesigned entrance hall now clearly expresses the building’s identity and fluidly connects the street and ground floor. Vertical circulation was reorganized in respect of the original structural grid while all technical systems were upgraded to meet today’s standards. The floorplates were conceived to offer a wide range of configurations: partitionable zones for privacy, open-plan spaces for collaborative intensity and in-between areas for informal or shared uses. Beneath the courtyard, the basement level becomes a true destination: by opening the ground and installing a glass roof, the formerly blind space is transformed into a bright, multipurpose agora - suitable for events or coworking.
Sustainability was central to the Virtuose project. Renovation over demolition reduced embodied carbon and extended the building’s lifecycle. Existing structural elements were preserved to limit resource use.
Eco-compatible strategies included a bioclimatic canopy and a densely vegetated courtyard to regulate climate.
All MEP systems were upgraded with low-consumption technologies.
Durable, low-impact interior materials were chosen for their ability to age well.
Outdoor access on each floor supports comfort and wellbeing.
The project received BREEAM certification for its sustainable approach.

Listening to a building means understanding its structural logic, the rhythm of its façades, the depth of its walls, and the original design intentions often lost through changing uses. In the case of Virtuose, this meant reconstructing its architectural and regulatory history.
To renovate, in this context, is to enter into a dialogue with the existing fabric - to view the built environment as a living material, shaped by history and ready to be extended. Every design decision stems from a close reading of the site. Virtuose emerges from this approach: a gesture of attentiveness and transformation, where architecture does not impose, but accompanies. Nothing was added to conceal. Everything was designed to reveal.
