The design originated from a dual reading of site and program: four fragmented plots adjacent to the Jianghuai Canal in Hefei’s High‑Tech Zone versus iFLYTEK’s ambition to fuse research, industry, and the public realm. Through urban analysis and new‑urbanist precedents, the design conceived Park X, a continuous green spine uniting parcels, and Campus X, a campus‑like sequence of courtyards and pavilions. Iterative diagrams and massing studies refined how landscape and built forms reinforce each other, yielding a hybrid typology where urban park and innovation campus coalesce seamlessly.

Open Urban Public Space

Situated within a newly developing greenfield district, the design prioritizes ecology by preserving and extending the existing natural landscape. Subterranean roadways unify four fragmented plots into a single, fully pedestrianized urban park that integrates seamlessly with surrounding neighborhoods. The office buildings are massed as successive setbacks, creating a series of terraces and platforms that serve dual roles: informal breakout spaces for staff and panoramic belvederes for the public. Each terrace is accessible via internal stair cores and external ramps, activating both private and civic circulation routes. Public facilities—exhibition halls, event lawns, and café terraces—open directly onto these platforms, dissolving the boundary between corporate campus and city park.

High-tech image with large-scale tension.

The iFLYTEK AI Headquarters excels in its holistic fusion of research, work, and public amenity. Its Park X & Campus X framework resolves site fragmentation and establishes a unified green artery. Monumental yet human‑scaled, steel trusses carve column‑free atriums, while concrete cores anchor vertical circulation. Modular interior zones—work, meeting, recharge, collaboration—are reconfigurable, fostering agility in AI research workflows. The façade, with horizontal aluminum ribbons and colored glass panels, conveys technological rigor alongside warmth. Sustainability measures—from BIPV rooftops to smart management systems—underscore a commitment to ecological stewardship. Finally, exhibition halls and open terraces invite civic participation, transforming a corporate campus into a living, evolving urban landmark.

Horizontally Linear Facade Language
As the words from the iFLYTEK’s chairman, the building they envisioned that transcends the conventional—one that embodies iFLYTEK’s pioneering spirit and remains open to the city. This campus is not just an office; it is a public laboratory for imagination, collaboration, and sustainable innovation.
