Rooted in 600 years of purple clay heritage, Huanglong Mountain Mining Site Park is redefined as an open-air "Clay Mine Geo-Museum," achieving ecological-cultural regeneration through low-intervention design. The project integrates mountain restoration, sponge system and forest renovation to optimize the ecological environment, revitalizes the mining historical scene through immersive spatial lines, shapes diversified cultural spaces with architecture and art sculptures, and connects the surrounding cultural panels through three-dimensional corridor bridges to build a sustainable paradigm of natural restoration, cultural inheritance and urban symbiosis.

industrial-natural heritage integration

The Huanglong Mountain Mining Site Park covers an area of 23.4 hectares and is located in the core area of Dingshu Township, surrounded by predominantly residential areas. The site is connected to the Comprehensive Cultural Service Center in the north (adjacent to the administrative board), the Alabaster Mining Source Exhibition Hall and Qinglongshan Park in the west, and the residential area in the south/east. Currently, the site is rich in natural and cultural resources but spatially fragmented, and the pedestrian network is scarce due to the blockage of urban roads.

Integrating multi-level connectivity with adjacent cultural precincts to boost spatial accessibility

  • Mountain restoration

for faults, bare rocks and landslide landscapes, plant curing of cliffs, cleaning of dangerous rocks and landslide management are used to implement protective restoration.

  • Water conservation

build sponge system through centralized-decentralized infiltration mode, purify water flow to enhance the hydrodynamics of the lake, optimize water quality and maintain water balance.

  • Forest Phase Modification

Aiming at the problems of single vegetation species, excessive fast-growing forests, and single forest phase changes, etc., the company will use natural regeneration, woodland nourishment and artificial afforestation to enhance the ecological stability of the woodland and the landscape ornamental properties.

Contemporary Vibrant Space Creation

  • Urban Symbiosis, Strengthening the Hub

The ecological green corridor and footbridge connect Qinglongshan Park and the neighboring special cultural areas, constructing a green corridor linking the Taoist culture and providing a new experience of Taoist cultural life.

  • Ecological Priority, Low-Intervention Revival

Mountain restoration realizes geosafety reproduction, sponge system guarantees lake nourishment, and forest renovation creates four-season landscape. Low-impact design is strictly adopted to promote the ecological revival of the mine site park.

  • Site revitalization and cultural continuity

Preserve the historical traces of "China's Pottery Capital" to the maximum extent possible, and present the purple sand culture with the natural mineral layer as exhibits and the earth as the exhibition hall. At the same time, we will work with artists to create iconic ceramic installations to recreate the unique experience of an open-air mine museum.

  • Contemporary and Vibrant Space Creation

Connecting the interior and exterior with belt transportation, it creates a diversified public open space through architectural clusters, art attractions, participatory experiences, and immersive exhibitions, and provides a comfortable place for citizens to socialize.

  • Multi-disciplinary synergy and integration

The cross-border integration of architecture, landscape, sculpture, interior, steel structure and lighting design creates a model of a comprehensive mine site park.

Habitat restoration and diversity conservation
Rooted in 600 years of purple clay, revitalizing site values via low-intervention design: Enhancing ecological resilience & biodiversity through habitat restoration. Reimagining heritage interpretation with minimal-intervention installations activating purple sand culture in-situ. Integrating multi-level connectivity with adjacent cultural precincts to boost spatial accessibility. Embracing "restoration as exhibition", it forges a global paradigm for industrial-natural heritage integration.
