The goal of this project is to design a building facing the mountain and the sea in Chaishan as a retirement residence for the owner. Since there is already a detached building at the original site, after communicating with the owner, I redesigned the original detached building as the owner's private residence, and moved the living room, social hall, and other leisure spaces to the new house next to it.

In addition to the rich ecosystem and Taiwan macaques, Chaishan is also an ecological habitat for many butterflies. Because it is located on the hillside of Chaishan, the building coverage rate and volume of the new house are limited. I took the butterfly living on the top of the mountain as the design concept, and used the equilateral triangle butterfly wing shape on the site to maximize the building space, and set the building entrance above the hillside. Different from the normal direction from the foot of the mountain to the hillside, the inclined wing shape is presented by going down the hillside, and the building is suspended above the site, just like a butterfly living on the hillside. At the same time, aluminum plates are used as roof materials, and stripes are used to simulate the patterns on butterfly wings.

One side of the triangular building faces the Taiwan Strait to the maximum, so that the client and friends can enjoy the widest harbor scenery when enjoying leisure time. The other side of the triangular building faces the mountain. Considering the soil and water conservation issues of the site, retaining walls are built on the hillside with the soil of the site, total water is recycled, and plants are planted, which protects the environment while providing the owner with different forest natural scenery. We tried to minimize the environmental cost brought by human activity and create a space where humans live in harmony with nature.

It is such a unique design that my family and I look forward to seeing it realized.

Space serves as a vital link between people and the environment. A good environment should be designed to encompass architecture and interior design. Consistent design and the integration of internal and external space can achieve a perfect living symbiosis. It is our hope to create buildings that will bring life closer to nature and allow users to feel the beauty brought about by nature.
