House GR31: a sculptural modern villa celebrating the harmony of nature, architecture, and family life

I believe my homes unite man nature and architecture.

This sculptural modern villa for a family is a celebration of indoor - outdoor feeling. The white volume contrasts with the rough natural stone elements of the gardenwalls connecting the structure with the earth. The building creates different garden aereas and looks like a white pearl in contrast to the lush park like natural green. The different living spaces are seperated like wings of a castle.

Street view and entrance

Providing a secure private and sheltered space closely tied to the local natural landscape this t- shape villa is set slightly angled in the site to maximize the vistas.
Different light related garden areas like a sunken courtyard for the indoor pool aerea, the morning sun reelated play and herb kitchen garden, the sheltered outside dining terrace and the open lounge to the evening sun divide the site and shape magical garden spaces. The architecture blends into the garden like a roman marble sculpture.

Bio

Inspired by the organic architecture of californian modernism, Lang developed a unique work of art that, as timeless classic, have outlived the transformation of fashions.
The architect Stephan Maria Lang possesses an extraordinary talent for getting at the special quality of any given site and combining it with the personality of his clients. The quality and the beauty of Stephan Maria Lang´s works lie in the hidden details, in the surprising views, in the play of light and shadow. The integration of landscape, garden, and interior into a Gesamtkunstwerk, an integrated and holistic masterpiece of architecture. The use of the latest technologies is a matter of course in order to meet the need for comfort and energy efficiency. However, the essential qualities of this way of life are inspiration from Japanese thought, an appreciation of patina, and the beauty of imperfect.
