The design concept for the ChorusLife hotel was inspired by the idea of an urban cruise ship: a place where guests can enjoy a complete, fluid, and accessible experience, just like on a cruise. From the very beginning, the client and architects envisioned bringing this concept into the city: a space where all services are within easy reach and seamlessly connected. The architectural concept revolves around this metaphor, with a volumetric composition that balances vertical development with the surrounding urban horizontality, integrating landscape and architecture into a unified, functional, and flowing system.

The Choruslife hotel project is deeply integrated with the surrounding landscape and urban environment, located in the southern part of the area, directly adjacent to the park zone. The building features an independent vehicular access, while also providing a pedestrian entrance connected to the internal squares of Choruslife, emphasizing its connection to the urban and social context of the complex. This dual accessibility reflects the hybrid nature of the hotel, serving both as an integrated component of Choruslife’s residential system and as a response to the growing demand for business and tourist accommodation in Bergamo. Guests can “inhabit” the experience of Choruslife as temporary residents, with access to all the services and cultural and social activities animating the squares, making the hotel an active part of the surrounding urban and landscape fabric.
The design of Chorus Life is based on rigorous scientific research with Politecnico di Milano, analyzing emerging changes in living styles linked to the sharing economy and digital innovation. The project offers a subscription-based housing model, integrating hotel and residences within a unified complex featuring common spaces, such as a usable rooftop that promotes social interaction and wellbeing. The modular structure enables industrial prefabrication, optimizing efficiency and sustainability. The GSM digital platform and Chorus Life app integrate space and service management, creating an innovative physical and digital hub. This approach earned the prestigious ICONIC LANDSCAPE AWARD 2018, awarded by Eco Tech Green and the magazines Topscape and Paysage.
Chorus Life Hotel is distinguished by its innovative architecture and concept inspired by a city “cruise ship” experience, offering guests freedom of movement and seamless access to services. The building features seven levels: a three-story base integrates with the park and plazas through green terraces and sunshades, minimizing visual impact. Above, a rotated glass volume captures panoramic views of Bergamo Alta and Chorus Life squares. Winner of the ICONIC LANDSCAPE AWARD 2018, the design harmonizes verticality with the surrounding landscape. Interiors feature dynamic, season-themed videowalls, creating an evolving atmosphere. Technologically, the hotel combines advanced digital controls with intuitive, traditional interfaces, ensuring accessibility for all guests. The Chorus Life app connects visitors to room services, spa, wellness, events, and dining, offering a full residential experience even for short stays. Additional highlights include family-themed rooms, a versatile conference center, and rooftop amenities like a panoramic restaurant and an 800-meter skyjogging track. This blend of architecture, technology, and integration with Chorus Life’s ecosystem makes the hotel a unique hospitality landmark in Bergamo.
Chorus Life Hotel is an innovative project that combines cutting-edge architecture, inclusive technology, and a strong connection to the urban context. It is designed to offer the experience of the city as a cruise, where every detail enhances the relationship between space, nature, and community, creating a welcoming and dynamic environment that meets the diverse needs of guests and residents.
Joseph Di Pasquale is an architect, urban designer, and lecturer at the Politecnico di Milano. Holding a PhD in hybrid architecture and a diploma in storytelling from the New York Film Academy, he has been actively engaged since 2008 in cultural dissemination through international lectures and academic publications. He is the founder of Joseph Di Pasquale Architects, a Milan-based studio with projects across Europe and Asia, working in the fields of masterplanning, landmark buildings, and innovative housing. Leading a multidisciplinary team that blends architecture, digital culture, and urban research, his approach sees architecture as a cultural and social tool in constant evolution. His work explores new spatial and relational models driven by shifts in human behavior and digital experience, within a continuous laboratory that engages clients, companies, and institutions.
