Based on the imagery of the tea field from the organic tea culture of Wuyi, the project extracts abstract design elements of mountains and waters from the famous Dayuantang Tea Garden in Wuyi County, intending to create an architectural form and spatial experience of being embraced by mountains and waters. The design intends to integrate environmental resources with the site, and to inject vitality into the architecture through adapting to the terrain, thus to generate a building form full of tension, and meanwhile to create an elevated vigorous ring to offer spaces for citizens' leisure activities.

Wuyi Culture and Sports Center (public fitness center) is located at the foot of Hushan Mountain and the Transition Belt of Hushan-Baiyangshan Ecological Corridor. It is an important area connecting mountains and greenery clusters and an essential node linking the vigorous green circle formed by the Wuyijiang River, Hushan Mountain and Wuhushan Mountain in the master plan of the new town. In a relatively low elevation, the site is adjacent to Jinghu Park on the west which has beautiful scenery but is blocked by the relatively high bank with greenery, and is surrounded by mountains on the south and north sides, all of which provide pivotal landscape resources to the project.

With the reasonable use of environmental resources, the design aims to vitalize the architecture in line with the terrain, to present a building form full of tension. To maximize the value of the surrounding landscape resources, the design conceives an elevated vigorous ring for the public, which offers a pleasant spatial and visual experience by raising the viewpoint. It offers a good view, and hence helps increase the utilization efficiency of surrounding landscape resources.

The project is located at the Transition Belt of Hushan-Baiyangshan Ecological Corridor, and it is an essential node linking the vigorous green circle formed by Wuyijiang River, Hushan Mountain and Wuhushan Mountain in the master plan of the new town. “Mountains” and “waters” are key environmental elements in the site. The project extracts abstract design elements of mountains and waters from the famous Dayuantang Tea Garden in Wuyi County and attempts to create an architectural image and spatial experience of being embraced by mountains and waters. The site is adjacent to Jinghu Park on the west which has beautiful scenery but is blocked by the relatively high bank with greenery, and is surrounded by mountains on the south and north sides, all of which provide pivotal landscape resources to the project. The design intends to integrate environmental resources with the site, and to injects vitality into the architecture through adapting to the terrain, thus to generate a building form full of tension. An elevated vigorous ring is built to offer spaces for citizens' leisure activities. It offers a good view, and hence helps increase the utilization efficiency of surrounding landscape resources. The Central Square on the lower level and the Ring for Citizens on the upper level form a vertical "urban living room". Gymnasium, public fitness center, public culture center and group activity center in an enclosed layout highlight the "one-stop service" mode of the building complex.

Wuyi Culture and Sports Center tackles the shortage of culture and sports facilities in Wuyi County while meeting the citizens' growing demands for cultural and sports activities. The project is targeted at the public and to fully meet their increasing needs for fitness, sports, leisure and cultural activities. While accentuating the theme of culture and sports, the design of this building complex incorporates a mode that offers one-stop services and diversified functions.
