The volume The Sustainable Lightness of Steel Structures offers a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of Off-site Architecture and Industry 5.0, implemented through the latest steel construction technologies.
Introduced by a foreword by Marco Imperadori, Full Professor at the Politecnico di Milano, the book is written by Grazia Marrone, Researcher at the ABC Department of the same university. Across its five chapters, the volume examines the main off-site technologies – hot-rolled steel structures, Light Steel Frame systems, and insulated sandwich panels – exploring their production processes and construction principles through a carefully curated selection of projects developed by Manni Group.
The interpretative paradigm proposed in the book, entitled More with Less – a reinterpretation of the celebrated motto Less is More by master architect Mies van der Rohe – illustrates the ongoing evolution of these technologies and outlines their future development, in line with the principles of the New European Bauhaus and Industry 5.0.
Edited by THE PLAN Editions, the publication is presented in a bilingual Italian-English edition.
