The finalist projects of the ECCA Prepainted Metal Envelope Award 2025 have been officially announced. Funded by the European Coil Coating Association (ECCA) and organized for the first time by THE PLAN, the initiative celebrates architectural excellence and innovation in the use of prepainted metal across contemporary design and construction.
The ECCA Prepainted Metal Envelope Award honors completed projects realized after January 1, 2020, within Europe, submitted by professionals — individually or in teams — working in the fields of architecture, urban design, and engineering.
Entries are divided into three categories according to the extent of façade cladding in prepainted metal panels: Small: up to 2,000 m²; Medium: between 2,000 and 5,000 m²; Large: over 5,000 m². Eligible façade types include Composite ACP, Honeycomb HCP, Standing Seam, Shingles, Insulated Panels, Sidings, Trapezoidals, Single Skin, and Cassettes, showcasing the material’s versatility in architectural applications.
An international jury of distinguished experts will select the winner and two honorable mentions based on five key evaluation criteria: graphic quality and clarity of presentation materials; effective integration of prepainted metal architectural components; conceptual coherence and design methodology; innovation in product use and realization of project objectives; environmental and material sustainability. The 2025 jury includes: Amrita Mahindroo, founder of DROO; Silvia Prandelli, Senior Principal at Populous; Tobias Wallisser, founder of L-A-V-A.
The winning project and honorable mentions will be announced on Friday, November 7, during the closing ceremony of THE PLAN Award 2025, held at Auditorium Monterosa 91, Milan, starting at 6:00 PM.
All recognized projects will be featured in the special edition of THE PLAN Award publication, scheduled for release in March 2026. The winning project will also receive a dedicated two-page feature in the March 2026 issue of THE PLAN magazine.
