Set against the sweeping sea views of Hong Kong’s Southern District, this 325 m2 residence designed by Clement C Studio feels as if it floats on water. The home belongs to a family with three children, who envisioned a space that would be both elegant and family-friendly.
Led by designer Clement Cheng, the studio achieved a delicate balance seamlessly intertwining artistry, refinement, and playfulness.

The design philosophy rests on soft, rounded forms that bring harmony and flow to the interiors. Every curve has been considered to avoid harsh corners while reinforcing a serene atmosphere. Arched corridors, floating wood ceiling rings, and sculptural detailing ensure the home feels graceful yet approachable.
Each detail contributes to understated sophistication while ensuring the home remains safe and kid-friendly.
The interiors exude calm through their palette of earthy tones, pale wood, and creams, providing a quiet backdrop that frames the sea views beyond. Marble and wood are used not only for their natural beauty but also for the warmth and texture they introduce.
Layered fabrics and wallpaper enrich the environment without overwhelming it, creating an atmosphere that feels both composed and deeply livable.

At the core of the project is a commitment to functionality, ensuring that elegance never comes at the expense of practicality. Storage solutions have been carefully integrated into the architecture, with custom cabinetry and built-in shelving keeping the home organised and clutter-free.
The upholstery has been selected with equal consideration: soft, durable fabrics that can withstand the rigours of daily life without losing their refined look. Even the lighting and wall treatments have a playful, interactive quality, inviting the children to engage with their surroundings and encouraging a sense of creativity within the home.

Artisanship is evident in every detail. Bespoke mouldings and panelling lend refinement, while floating ceiling rings and arched passageways soften the geometry of the home and introduce a sense of movement. Parquet tiles add depth and character underfoot, while marble surfaces display intricate veining that reinforces the natural elegance of the materials.
These details are not ornamental flourishes but expressions of meticulous craftsmanship, elevating the home into a work of design artistry.
The design also reflects a thoughtful commitment to environmental responsibility. Rather than gutting the apartment, Clement C Studio adapted the existing layout to minimise waste and retain the building’s character. Materials were planned with precision to reduce off-cuts, and construction processes, while technological solutions further support sustainability enhancing energy efficiency.
This residence captures the paradox of modern family living with a serene retreat that is also durable, flexible, and sustainable. By blending artistry, craftsmanship, and practical design, Clement C Studio has created a home where sea views, soft lines, and subtle details echo the sensation of sailing, anchoring the family in beauty, comfort, and responsibility.
