Interiors that reflect the shades of nature

Simone Ciarmoli and Miguel Queda drew their inspiration for the interior design of this villa in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat from the hues of the Mediterranean scrubland. This small but well-known town is on a peninsular on France’s Cote d’Azur.

With this residential project, the interior designers set out to pay homage to the shades of the luxuriant plant life of Provence, while also trying to capture the special light found in this part of the Mediterranean.

The colors of the fabrics chosen by the designers reflect the tones of the local flora, including the delicate violets of lavender, the greens of sage, and the tones of bougainvillea.

The villa has 13 thousand square feet (1200 m²) of floorspace, with a central section and two wings for guests. The ground floor of the main section includes living and dining areas, the kitchen, and a study. Features of the living room are the two large sofas, in shades of bleached linen, and two Osvaldo Borsani armchairs in vintage blue and sage green. The two coffee tables were specially designed for this project by Simone Ciarmoli and Miguel Queda, and made by Annibale Colombo, a cabinetmaker who specializes in traditional Italian techniques.

The entrance to the villa is distinguished by three spherical light fittings descending from the high ceiling and two side tables, each surmounted by a large mirror with Corten frames. Murano vases from the Essential collection, designed by the two designers, and a central pouf decorate the room, every piece harmonizing with the designs of the marble floors.

The orange tones of the dining room walls are reflected in the contemporary seating, upholstered in Rubelli linen velvet, with large burnished bronze bases, again inspired by the colors of the local flora.

A wrought iron staircase leads to the upper floor, where there are three bedrooms, each one distinguished by a color palette chosen to create a sense of tranquility and rest.

To seal this artistic pact between interior and exterior, a large swimming pool extends out from within the villa into the garden – a tribute to the sea, just a few miles away.
