Every outdoor lighting project faces multiple demands that need to be blended in a single, efficient solution: ensuring safety and security at night through effective illumination, respecting local environmental needs and integrating seamlessly with architecture – while also creating a lighting experience that appeals emotionally to the senses. BEGA meets these requirements with Dark Sky, a range of luminaires that combine quality, efficiency and ecological responsibility.
The concept is built on three principles: avoid unnecessary light emissions and so cut light spillage, maintain visibility where it matters, and respect environmental sensitivity through context-adapted light color and distribution. In this paradigm, Dark Sky luminaires direct light precisely onto the target area, with less than one percent of their luminous flux emitted upward, thus helping to restore the natural darkness of the night sky. To protect nocturnal animals, the company developed BugSaver® technology, which allows the color temperature to shift from 3,000 Kelvin to a warm amber tone of around 1,800 Kelvin. This reduces the blue component most attractive to insects and most disruptive to ecosystems.

Automated control systems further help meet environmental standards, offering dimming and switching on only when needed. In this way, the light adapts to the rhythm of the landscape and becomes less intrusive, while still preserving people’s sense of safety and security.
BEGA Connect amplifies system efficiency, with dynamic controls and programmable scenarios that respond to seasonal changes and shifting environmental needs.
With Dark Sky, BEGA underscores its commitment to sustainability, delivering lighting that is reliable and responsible. In short, it is illumination that goes beyond function to become a visual experience and an act of care for both the landscape and the people who live in it.
