Coppo del Borgo by Wierer is a mineral tile designed to perfectly replicate the aesthetics of the old clay canal tiles found across Italy. It emulates the characteristic shapes and colours of tiles aged by time, making it ideal for restoring and upgrading the roofs of vintage buildings and those in old town centres. As such, Coppo del Borgo is ideal when integration is required between new builds and existing roofs. It also ensures compliance with UNI EN 490/491 requirements for water proofing, resistance to freeze/thaw cycles and tensile strength. This compliance is guaranteed for 50 years, with the added benefit of Wierer’s more than 50 years of experience with mineral tiles.
The ribbing of Coppo del Borgo is set slightly back, creating that lack of uniformity that produces the uneven shadows often found on old tiles. The flat sections are also slightly back from the profile of the wave to emulate the appearance of overlapping roof and canal tiles. Placing the side joint section at the lower part of the wave keeps it largely hidden and adds uniformity to the overall appearance. As this joint section is at 45°, it helps with water runoff, thus improving waterproofing.
The appearance and colouring of these tiles is emphasised by the staggered layout. The wide range of colours, including the latest additions open up numerous design options.
